Sivoni Ligaiviu, a dedicated teacher from Kadavu Provincial Secondary School, expresses his gratitude for Fiji National University’s (FNU) blended classes, which facilitated his recent graduation with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) in Industrial Arts. Despite residing in Kadavu, Ligaiviu was able to pursue his studies effectively through the university’s online learning platform.
Hailing from Solotavui Village in Kadavu and with maternal connections to Waitovu Village in Ovalau, Ligaiviu is passionate about enhancing his professional qualifications. He emphasizes the importance of continuous learning, stating, “I’ve always made it a point to upgrade my qualifications. As a teacher in Kadavu, graduating today was made possible through the online classes offered by FNU.”
Furthermore, Ligaiviu is already forging ahead with his educational aspirations, having commenced Postgraduate units and aiming for a PhD in the future. He is optimistic about completing his Postgraduate qualification by December of the following year.
This story reflects not only Ligaiviu’s commitment to professional growth and education but also showcases the vital role that accessible learning platforms play in enabling individuals from remote areas to achieve their academic goals. It serves as an inspiring example for other educators and students who aspire to pursue higher education despite geographical barriers.
In a world where education is increasingly accessible through technology, Ligaiviu’s journey underscores the importance of resilience and the pursuit of knowledge.
