The Fiji Taxi Zone Association has unveiled its new logo at Shirley Park in Lautoka. This launch marks the culmination of a longstanding aspiration and fulfills the hopes of numerous members, following the association’s official registration earlier this year.

The logo embodies the theme “Service with a smile — Proud to Serve Public,” emphasizing the association’s dedication to providing high-quality service to the community.

Sailesh Naidu, a consultant for the association, highlighted the significance of this initiative for Lautoka and its taxi drivers. He explained that the association was formed to safeguard the interests of the drivers.

Naidu mentioned a lottery conducted two years ago that resulted in the issuance of 1,400 new zone taxi bases in the Lautoka and Nadi regions. He noted that the government subsequently implemented an open base system in many towns and cities.

In response to these changes, the drivers within the zone association recognized the need to have a voice in the taxi industry and to contribute as stakeholders. Establishing the association provides taxi drivers with a formal platform to voice their opinions on regulatory changes impacting their profession.

Furthermore, the association is vital in delivering training and increasing awareness among drivers, ensuring they stay informed about industry standards and best practices. Naidu added that this organization empowers drivers to express their views on regulatory changes while also playing a key role in driver education and awareness.
