Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad will head Fiji’s delegation at the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet during its meeting on Tuesday. COP29 will address various key issues, including climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and ocean-related concerns. A Technical Working Group, coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will assist in preparing Fiji’s delegation for the conference.
