Fiji Takes a Step Forward in Human Rights Coordination

The Attorney-General’s Office will lead the Fiji Human Rights Taskforce, which aims to enhance cooperation among State institutions to ensure that Fiji meets its international human rights commitments. This initiative comes after the Cabinet’s approval of the Taskforce. The FHRTF will oversee Fiji’s interaction with various international human rights frameworks, including United Nations Human Rights Treaty Bodies, the Universal Periodic Review, and the Special Procedures of the Human Rights Council, and will monitor the implementation of their recommendations.
