The Office of the Attorney-General has been appointed to lead the Fiji Human Rights Taskforce, which will oversee, guide, and promote consistent communication among State institutions to ensure that Fiji meets its international human rights commitments. This decision comes after the Cabinet approved the establishment of the Taskforce.
The Fiji Human Rights Taskforce will play a crucial role in managing Fiji’s interactions with global human rights bodies, such as the United Nations Human Rights Treaty Bodies, the Universal Periodic Review, and the Special Procedures of the Human Rights Council, and will monitor the progress of implementing their recommendations.
