Fiji Takes a Stand: Anti-Doping Bill Passed to Ensure Sports Integrity

Parliament has approved the Anti-Doping Bill, which aims to establish drug-free sports in Fiji and enforce anti-doping standards aligned with the UNESCO International Convention.

During the parliamentary session, Minister for Sports, Jese Saukuru, emphasized that this milestone is crucial for maintaining the integrity of sports in the country.

The bill was initially introduced in May of this year. Minister Saukuru stated that it reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to promoting clean competition, fairness, and the well-being of athletes.

He further mentioned that the legislation not only targets detection and enforcement but also prioritizes prevention and education to cultivate a culture of clean sports.

The Anti-Doping Bill is designed to uphold the spirit of sports, enhance athletes’ health, and ensure that Fiji competes on the global sporting stage with the highest ethical standards.
