Organizations across Fiji are actively engaging in a significant anti-bribery workshop designed to bolster ethics and accountability within their operations. This workshop coincides with a recent training session attended by staff members from the Suva City Council, which took place at the Civic Centre in Suva.
The primary focus of the workshop was to enhance personal ethics and address the pressing issue of corruption that affects many organizations in the nation. The session was led by Banuve Wainimala, the Principal Corruption Prevention Officer at the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). Wainimala emphasized the critical importance of upholding ethical values in day-to-day business activities. Given the widespread nature of corruption, discussions were geared towards providing practical insights that empower employees to make more transparent and accountable choices within their roles.
Rabia Mohammed, a Training Officer at the Suva City Council, voiced her appreciation for the valuable insights shared by FICAC officers. She noted that the training is pivotal in equipping SCC employees with the necessary knowledge to identify and combat corruption as they conduct their duties.
This workshop is part of FICAC’s broader commitment to strengthening integrity within both the public and private sectors. Previous sessions, similar to this one that took place at Vinod Patel And Company, have highlighted the significance of understanding corruption risks and implementing effective preventive measures. FICAC’s collaborative efforts with various organizations aim to cultivate a culture of accountability, marking substantial progress in the fight against corruption in Fiji.
These proactive initiatives represent a strong commitment to ethical governance, establishing a promising groundwork for a future characterized by transparency and trust in public and private dealings alike.
By emphasizing ongoing education and ethical conduct, Fiji is moving closer to a society where corruption becomes a rarity, paving the way for transparent governance and a brighter outlook for all Fijians.
