Fiji Sports Awards 2024: A Night of Record Nominations and Celebration!

The 2024 Fiji Sports Awards are poised to be a landmark celebration, scheduled for March 22 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. The event has already made headlines by attracting a record 112 nominees across 22 national sporting organizations and three major media outlets, surpassing last year’s 98 nominees. This surge in participation underscores the dedication of athletes, coaches, and administrators in elevating Fijian sports on both local and international platforms.

Andhy Blake, the event’s public relations representative, highlighted that this year’s nominations reflect the growth and resilience of Fiji’s sporting community. Fiji Sports Commission CEO Peter Mazey noted that the awards night will celebrate a significant year for Fijian sports, particularly honoring the achievements of athletes at the Paris Olympic Games, the Paris Paralympic Games, and various other sporting competitions.

“With this year’s record nominations, we are not just recognizing individual talents but also paying tribute to the vital contributions of volunteers, officials, and the supporters of sports in Fiji,” Mazey stated. The event aims to showcase the diverse sporting talents in Fiji, from grassroots levels to international champions, in categories including Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Coach of the Year, and many more.

This year’s awards ceremony will also emphasize the collective spirit of Fijian sports, uniting participants and supporters alike in celebration of dedication and perseverance.
