Over 3,000 participants participated in the 2023 Fiji Spartan race, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka during the official welcome event for the Fiji Spartan Trifecta week at Aviva Racecourse in Sabeto, Nadi.
Gavoka expressed that the event’s success reflects not only hard work but also the unity and determination of the Fijian people. He noted that last year, the race attracted more than 3,370 participants, with around 65 percent hailing from international locations.
Competitors represented over 20 countries, including Australia and New Zealand, coming together on Fiji’s beautiful shores. Gavoka emphasized that this global gathering showcases Fiji as a top-tier destination.
He highlighted the inspiring response from the international community, stating that the collective efforts represent the spirit of the Spartan Race. Gavoka reaffirmed their commitment to hosting the Spartan event in Fiji for three consecutive years, which he believes has a significant positive impact on the nation.
In the previous year alone, the event contributed approximately $8 million to the local economy, a testament to its remarkable economic influence, added Gavoka.
