Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the $160 million investment in new flight simulators signifies Fiji Airways’ confidence in the future. During the launch of two advanced flight simulators, Rabuka noted that this initiative reflects a commitment to strengthening Fiji’s role as an aviation training hub in the Asia Pacific region.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the new facility will draw trainees and pilots from Fiji and beyond, reinforcing Fiji’s status as a center of excellence in aviation training. He highlighted that Fiji Airways currently accounts for over 65-70 percent of all visitors to Fiji, with their global marketing efforts surpassing other organizations promoting travel and tourism to the nation.
Rabuka stated that the enhanced training capabilities at the Aviation Academy would uphold high safety and service standards, essential for improving the travel experience of visitors. He pointed out that these investments align with the Government’s broader vision for sustainable development.
Additionally, Rabuka recognized Fiji Airways as a leader in aviation and a pioneer in environmental responsibility. He described the new facility as a catalyst for economic growth, benefiting local businesses and contributing to the nation’s overall prosperity. The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Fiji is an attractive destination for both foreign and domestic investments, and the significant investments made by Fiji Airways in cutting-edge infrastructure highlight the country’s favorable investment climate, especially in the aviation sector.
