Fiji has risen four spots in the latest FIFA World Ranking, becoming the second highest ranked team in the Oceania region. The Bula Boys, coached by Rob Sherman, are now ranked 146th, marking their highest ranking since 2011.

Fiji’s ascent in the rankings followed a 1-0 victory over the Solomon Islands on October 10 during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In contrast, New Zealand has also improved its position, climbing to 91st in the world—a peak not seen since 2016—after securing wins against Tahiti and Malaysia.

The new rankings have also seen New Caledonia and Vanuatu ascend five spots to 155 and 157 respectively, following their successful World Cup qualifying matches. Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea has continued its decline, now ranked 171st, the lowest it has been since 2018.

At the top of the world rankings, Argentina remains in first place, but their lead over second-placed France and third-placed Spain has decreased. England holds firm in fourth place, with Brazil and Belgium completing the top six. Portugal and Italy have gained one position each to rank 7th and 9th respectively, while the Netherlands and Colombia have dropped one spot each to 8th and 10th. Germany has moved up two positions to 11th, bringing them close to the top ten.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be released on November 28, 2024.
