Fiji has risen four spots in the latest FIFA World Ranking, becoming the second-highest ranked team in the Oceania region. The Bula Boys, coached by Rob Sherman, are now ranked 146th, marking their best position since 2011. This improvement follows Fiji’s 1-0 victory over the Solomon Islands on October 10 during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, allowing them to surpass their rivals in the rankings.

New Zealand also saw a rise in the rankings, reaching 91st place, its best ranking since 2016, thanks to wins over Tahiti and Malaysia. Additionally, New Caledonia and Vanuatu moved up five positions to 155th and 157th, respectively, following successful World Cup qualifying matches.

On the other hand, Papua New Guinea continues to decline, falling to 171st, its lowest rank since 2018.

In the global standings, Argentina remains in first place, but their lead over France in second and Spain in third has narrowed. England, Brazil, and Belgium maintain their rankings at fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. Portugal has moved up to seventh, while Italy climbed to ninth, with the Netherlands and Colombia rounding out the top ten, both slipping down one spot. Germany has also improved its position, now sitting at 11th.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be released on November 28, 2024.
