Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that Fiji is officially bidding to host the 2031 Pacific Games. This declaration was made during the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards held at HFC Bank Stadium, where he confirmed that Fiji has submitted its proposal through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC).
FASANOC is expected to present Fiji’s bid in Palau next month. Mr. Rabuka emphasized that the People’s Coalition Government is dedicated to fostering sports development at all levels, stating, “We will continue to invest in our athletes, improve our sports infrastructure, and promote inclusivity in sports.” He highlighted the government’s recognition of the significance of providing opportunities for all Fijians, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability, to engage in sports and pursue their aspirations.
