The Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica announced that the Government is set to launch the 5G network soon. While addressing attendees at the Fiji Tech Summit in Nadi, Mr. Kamikamica emphasized that this initiative will create exciting opportunities for both individuals and businesses.
He pointed out that 5G technology provides various benefits beyond enhanced mobile internet access and encouraged professionals in the technology sector to utilize this advancement to improve their service offerings.
Mr. Kamikamica reiterated the Government’s commitment to connecting underserved communities. He highlighted that the introduction of innovative technologies is key to achieving this goal. Earlier this year, Starlink began its services in Fiji, providing stable connectivity to people in remote areas who previously lacked access to the internet.
He noted that major telecommunications providers in Fiji have recognized the potential of this development and have begun collaborations with Starlink. Mr. Kamikamica expressed hope that these efforts will enable unconnected communities to gain access to connectivity on both personal and commercial levels.
