Fiji Set to Make History by Hosting WHO Regional Meeting in 2025

The Cabinet has approved Fiji as the host for the World Health Organisation’s 76th Regional Committee Meeting for the Western Pacific in 2025. The Regional Committee serves as the governing body for the WHO in the region, consisting of representatives from thirty-seven Member States and areas, along with Associate Members. This annual meeting focuses on policy formulation, oversight of regional programs, progress report evaluations, and the consideration of new initiatives. Resolutions and decisions made during the meeting will shape the activities of the Regional Office and affiliated country offices for the upcoming year. This event marks the first time a Pacific Island nation will host a WHO Regional Committee Meeting as an independent country.
