Fiji Set to Make History as First Independent Pacific Nation to Host WHO Regional Meeting

The Fiji Cabinet has approved the hosting of the World Health Organization’s 76th Regional Committee Meeting for the Western Pacific Region (WHO RCM) in 2025. The Regional Committee serves as the governing body for the WHO in the Western Pacific, consisting of representatives from 37 Member States and areas, along with Associate Members. The committee convenes annually to develop policies, oversee regional programs, review progress reports, and evaluate new initiatives. It also adopts resolutions and makes decisions that direct the activities of the Regional Office and country offices for the upcoming year. This event marks the first time an independent Pacific Island nation will host a WHO Regional Committee Meeting.
