Fiji Set to Launch Game-Changing 5G Network

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has announced that the Government is preparing to launch the 5G network. Speaking at the Fiji Tech Summit in Nadi, he emphasized that this advancement will create exciting possibilities for individuals and businesses.

“5G provides numerous benefits beyond just mobile internet,” he stated, encouraging technology professionals to utilize this innovation to improve their services for customers.

Mr. Kamikamica highlighted that one of the Government’s primary goals has been to ensure connectivity for those without access. “Through the integration of innovative technology, we are making significant strides toward this goal,” he added.

He noted that earlier this year, Starlink began its operations in Fiji, allowing people in remote and maritime regions, who previously lacked reliable connectivity, to experience the advantages of being connected.

Major telecommunications companies in the country have recognized this opportunity and partnered with Starlink. Mr. Kamikamica expressed hope that these efforts will enable unconnected communities to gain access to connectivity, both for personal and commercial purposes.
