Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka announced that Fiji’s tourism sector exceeded expectations last year, welcoming a record 929,740 visitors who generated $3.3 billion for the national economy. During his address at the Fiji Tourism Convention in Nadi, he noted that this achievement represented a 4 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic figures, indicating that Fiji’s tourism industry is not only recovering but advancing more robustly than ever.
From January to August of this year, the country has already received 640,274 visitors, positioning Fiji to potentially reach 1 million visitors by the end of 2024. Mr. Gavoka emphasized that through sustained efforts in marketing, enhancing air connectivity, improving infrastructure, and maintaining a strong commitment to sustainable tourism practices, Fiji is on track to achieve or exceed the 1 million visitor target.
