Fiji Sees Record Departures and Visitor Arrivals in July 2024!

In July, a total of 15,223 residents left Fiji, according to recent data from the Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBoS). Of these departures, 13,488 individuals, or 88.6 percent, left for short-term absences lasting less than three months. Additionally, 625 residents, which equates to 4.1 percent, departed for periods between three months and one year. Long-term absences of one year or more accounted for 1,110 departures, or 7.3 percent of the total.

Provisional figures from the FBoS also indicated that visitor arrivals in July 2024 reached 98,332. Of this number, 97,331 visitors arrived by air, while 1,001 came by sea, predominantly as seamen on fishing vessels (718) and 283 as yacht arrivals.

The report highlighted that holidaymakers made up 79.9 percent of the arrivals, while 9.9 percent visited friends or relatives. Business travelers represented 1.6 percent of the total, with 8.6 percent coming for other reasons. This influx of visitors marks a new record for July, reflecting a notable increase of 5.2 percent compared to the same month last year. Furthermore, it shows a growth of 6.2 percent compared to June 2024, which recorded 92,571 arrivals. For comparison, visitor arrivals in July 2023 and 2022 were 93,483 and 78,368, respectively.
