Fiji Sees Record Departures and Arrivals in July 2024!

In July, 15,223 residents of Fiji left the country, according to the latest report from the Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBoS). Among these departures, 13,488 individuals, accounting for 88.6 percent, were on short-term trips lasting less than three months. Additionally, 625 residents (4.1 percent) were away for a period of over three months but less than a year, while 1,110 individuals, or 7.3 percent, were departing for a longer-term absence of one year or more.

The FBoS also reported that provisional figures indicate visitor arrivals in Fiji for July 2024 reached a total of 98,332. Of these arrivals, 97,331 were by air, and 1,001 arrived by sea. The sea arrivals primarily consisted of 718 seamen on fishing vessels and 283 individuals arriving by yacht.

The majority of visitors, 79.9 percent, came for holiday purposes, while 9.9 percent visited family or friends, 1.6 percent had business-related reasons, and 8.6 percent came for other motivations. This number sets a new record for July and reflects a notable increase of 5.2 percent compared to the same month last year. Furthermore, there was a 6.2 percent rise compared to June 2024, which saw 92,571 visitors. In contrast, visitor arrivals in July during the previous two years were 93,483 in 2023 and 78,368 in 2022.
