Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union Enhances Safety Measures

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has emphasized that the Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union (FSSRU) must place the safety of students as a top priority before, during, and after sanctioned school events.

This statement was made following a meeting with senior executives of FSSRU and principals of two Eastern Zone schools yesterday.

FSSRU has assured Radrodro and the Ministry that efforts will be made to prevent such incidents from happening again. Measures will be put in place to guarantee the safety of everyone involved in the games.

The Union will ensure continuous supervision and will inform schools about the expected behaviors of their students and supporters, along with safety protocols.

To enhance supervision, Ministry of Education District and Divisional Officers will be present at all game venues to oversee the smooth conduct of the remaining matches in the Deans Competition.

Furthermore, the principals of the two schools, which are significant players in Secondary Schools rugby, have reiterated the importance of strengthening supervision and maintaining fair play and the safety of students.
