President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere has urged all scouts in Fiji to actively engage in promoting gender equality across various programs and to extend support to vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly.

Addressing over 2,200 scouts, leaders, and volunteers during the opening of the National Scout Jamboree 2024 at Lawaqa Park, he emphasized that such events are valuable for building friendships and allowing scouts to showcase their skills in various activities, including cooking, cleaning, knot tying, and hiking.

President Katonivere acknowledged the efforts of scout leaders, most of whom are educators, for their continuous guidance and leadership in the scouting community.

“While this commitment requires significant sacrifice, we as scouts have vowed to contribute towards this mission, assisting our youth in becoming responsible citizens in the future,” he stated.
