All scouts in Fiji have been urged by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere to actively engage in promoting gender equality in all programs and to support vulnerable populations, especially the elderly.
During the opening of the National Scout Jamboree 2024 at Lawaqa Park, attended by over 2,200 scouts, leaders, and volunteers, President Katonivere highlighted that scout jamborees are intended to build friendships and allow scouts to showcase their skills in areas such as cooking, cleaning, knot tying, and hiking.
He acknowledged the contributions of scout leaders, many of whom are teachers, for their continuous guidance and leadership.
“While it requires a significant commitment, as scouts, we are dedicated to this mission to help our youth develop into responsible citizens in the future,” he stated.
