Fiji Schools Basketball Championships Kick Off with 70 Teams!

The Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championships kick off today at the Multi-Purpose Court in Lautoka.

Laisiasa Puamau, the Chief Operations Officer of Fiji Basketball, expressed enthusiasm over the number of schools participating in the three-day tournament. “This year, we are pleased to have 70 teams registered to compete in Lautoka,” Puamau stated. He also welcomed new participants including Lautoka Muslim, Votualevu College, and the return of St Thomas High School and RKS.

In the U15 Boys category, Pool A consists of strong teams such as ISS, SGS, and MBHS 2, along with CCL, ISN, and SHC. Pool B features YSS, MBHS 1, LDS, Tilak High School, and FAMS, promising a competitive atmosphere.

For the U15 Girls division, Pool A includes YSS, LDS, ISN, and CCL, while Pool B comprises SGS, SJSS, Votualevu College, and ISS, indicating a tightly contested championship.

The U17 Boys division is split into three pools: Pool A consists of CCL, SVC, RKS, SGS, and MBHS 2; Pool B includes LDS, NHS, ISN, QVS, and ISS; and Pool C has YSS, THS, FAMS, and MBHS 1.

In the U17 Girls category, Pool A features THS, NHS, SGS, GHS, and SJSS Blue, while Pool B includes CCL, SVC, SJSS White, YSS, and LDS, ensuring exciting matches throughout the tournament.

For the U19 Boys, Pool A consists of MBHS 1, FAMS, CCL, JWC, and QVS, while Pool B includes YSS, SGS, Votualevu College, LMC, and MBHS 2. Pool C features LDS, SVC, STHS, THS, and RKS.

The U19 Girls division sees Pool A comprising ACS, LDS, FAMS, and SJSS, and Pool B includes SGS, YSS, SVC, and ISS, all fighting for a chance to reach the finals.

This event is expected to showcase high-energy games, exceptional performances, and unforgettable moments for both participants and fans alike.
