Fiji’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, announced that the trustees of the Fiji Rugby Union are ready to investigate allegations of corruption and delays in payments if players can provide concrete evidence. During a parliamentary session, Saukuru recognized the players’ claims but pointed out that no substantial proof supporting these allegations has been submitted. The trustees have indicated their readiness to forward credible information to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for in-depth examination. While the trustees are concerned about the players’ grievances, they stress the importance of having proper evidence before proceeding further. Additionally, Saukuru confirmed that all players who represented Fiji at the 2023 Rugby World Cup have received full compensation from the Fiji Rugby Union.
