Fiji Rugby Union Under Scrutiny: Players Urged to Present Evidence

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, has stated that the trustees of the Fiji Rugby Union are ready to look into allegations of corruption and delayed payments, provided that players can present solid evidence. During a session in Parliament, Saukuru acknowledged the players’ claims but pointed out that there has been no substantial proof to support these allegations.

The trustees are prepared to refer credible information to the Fijian Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for further inquiries. While they are attentive to the players’ concerns, they have stressed the importance of having concrete evidence before proceeding with any investigations. Additionally, Saukuru confirmed that all players who participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup have received full payment from the Fiji Rugby Union.
