The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) has reported an impressive profit of $1.6 million in its 2023 annual report, a noteworthy recovery from the previous year’s loss of the same amount. FRU Trust Board Chairman Peter Mazey highlighted this financial turnaround, noting that the union generated $27 million in income for 2023, compared to $21 million in 2022.

While expenses rose to approximately $25.5 million in 2023, the FRU’s enhanced income allowed it to achieve a positive financial outcome. Mazey expressed optimism about the future of the union, indicating that these results demonstrate they are on the right track.

Additionally, Mazey mentioned that resolutions from unions have been received for discussion during the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), where the financial report for 2023 will be presented. The AGM will also include the appointment of seven board members.

This significant financial improvement not only reflects effective management but also signals a promising future for Fiji Rugby, enhancing the stability and opportunities for the sport in the region.

In summary, the Fiji Rugby Union’s financial resurgence indicates a positive trajectory for the organization, which could lead to greater investments in rugby development and infrastructure in the coming years.
