Fiji Rugby Union Scandal: Couple Granted Bail in Fraud Case

A former accountant of the Fiji Rugby Union and his partner have been granted a non-cash bail bond of $2000. Pawan Deo and Subhashni Mudaliar appeared before Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza, facing charges of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining a financial advantage. They are accused of dishonestly acquiring $53,788.75 from the Fiji Rugby Union and facilitating fraudulent payments amounting to $7,291.83 to Sports Supplies Limited in 2022. The pair has chosen to represent themselves in the case, which is being prosecuted by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. The hearing has been postponed until November 5.
