Fiji Rugby Union Scandal: Couple Granted Bail Amid Fraud Allegations

A former accountant at the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and his partner have been granted a non-cash bail bond of $2000. Pawan Deo and Subhashni Mudaliar faced senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza, each charged with conspiracy to defraud and obtaining financial advantage. They are accused of dishonestly obtaining $53,788.75 from the FRU and facilitating fraudulent payments of $7,291.83 to Sports Supplies Limited in 2022. The couple has chosen to represent themselves in this case, which is being prosecuted by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. The case has been scheduled for an adjournment on November 5.
