Fiji Rugby Union Scandal: Couple Granted Bail Amid Fraud Allegations

A former accountant for the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and his partner were granted a non-cash bail bond of $2,000 today. Pawan Deo and Subhashni Mudaliar appeared before Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza, facing charges of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining a financial advantage. They are accused of dishonestly obtaining $53,788.75 from the FRU and fraudulently processing payments of $7,291.83 to Sports Supplies Limited in 2022. The couple has chosen to represent themselves in this case, which is being pursued by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. The case has been adjourned until November 5.
