Fiji’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, announced that the trustees of the Fiji Rugby Union are ready to look into allegations of corruption and delayed payments if players can provide concrete evidence. In a statement made in Parliament, Saukuru recognized the concerns raised by players but pointed out that no substantial evidence has yet been presented to support these claims.

The trustees have indicated their readiness to forward credible information to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for additional investigation. Although they are attentive to the players’ issues, the trustees stressed the importance of having proper evidence before proceeding with any actions. Additionally, Saukuru confirmed that all players who participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup have received their full payments from the Fiji Rugby Union.
