Fiji Rugby Union Fraud Case: Couple Secures Bail Amid Controversy

A former accountant at the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and his partner have been granted a non-cash bail bond of $2,000. Pawan Deo and Subhashni Mudaliar faced Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza, charged with conspiracy to defraud and obtaining financial advantage. They are accused of unlawfully acquiring $53,788.75 from FRU and orchestrating fraudulent payments totaling $7,291.83 to Sports Supplies Limited in 2022. The couple has chosen to represent themselves as they contest the charges brought by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. The case has been postponed until November 5.
