Fiji Rugby Union Faces Corruption Allegations: What’s Next?

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, stated that the trustees of the Fiji Rugby Union are ready to investigate allegations of corruption and delayed payments, provided that players offer concrete evidence. During a parliamentary session, Saukuru acknowledged the players’ claims but highlighted the lack of substantial proof to support these allegations.

The trustees have indicated their willingness to report credible information to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for further investigation. While they are concerned about the issues raised by the players, the trustees stressed the importance of having proper evidence before proceeding with any actions. Additionally, Saukuru confirmed that all players who represented Fiji at the 2023 Rugby World Cup have received their full compensation from the Fiji Rugby Union.
