Fiji’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, stated that the trustees of the Fiji Rugby Union are ready to look into allegations of corruption and delayed payments, provided that players submit solid evidence. In a recent Parliament session, Saukuru acknowledged the players’ claims but emphasized that no substantial proof has yet been presented to support these allegations. The trustees are willing to forward credible information to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for further investigation. Although they are concerned about the players’ issues, the trustees highlighted the necessity for concrete evidence before taking any actions. Saukuru further confirmed that all players who represented Fiji in the 2023 Rugby World Cup have received full compensation from the Fiji Rugby Union.
