Fiji Rugby Union: Call for Evidence Amid Corruption Claims

Fiji’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, has announced that the trustees of the Fiji Rugby Union are ready to look into allegations of corruption and delayed payments, provided that players submit concrete evidence. During a parliamentary session, Saukuru recognized the claims made by players but pointed out that no substantial evidence has been offered to support these allegations. The trustees have indicated their willingness to forward credible information to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for further inquiry. Although the trustees are concerned about the players’ issues, they stressed the importance of having adequate evidence before proceeding with any actions. Saukuru also confirmed that all players who represented Fiji in the 2023 Rugby World Cup have been fully compensated by the Fiji Rugby Union.
