The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) and the Fiji Rugby Union have established a memorandum of agreement to strengthen their collaboration for the FSC U20 7s competition. This initiative aims to enhance the development of grassroots rugby in the nation, with the FRU joining forces with the FSC to ensure the tournament’s success.
At the recent signing ceremony held in the FSC Boardroom, both organizations expressed their commitment to host a tournament that will identify and nurture new talent, preparing them for future opportunities to represent the national team.
Under the terms of the agreement, the FSC will manage strategic planning and event venues, while the FRU will provide technical expertise and guidance in rugby. This partnership seeks to create an engaging competitive experience for both male and female players.
The tournament will feature 16 teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions, promoting gender equality as a key focus. Players of various skill levels will showcase their talents when the first leg of the competition begins at Thompson Park in Navua early next month. The overall champion will be determined after five tournament events.
