Fiji Rugby Union and Sports Council Team Up for Exciting U20 7s Tournament!

The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) and the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) have formalized their collaboration through a memorandum of agreement that will enhance the FSC U20 7s competition. The initiative aims to strengthen grassroots rugby across Fiji, with the FRU partnering with the FSC to ensure the tournament’s success.

During the signing ceremony held at the FSC Boardroom last week, both organizations committed to organizing a tournament designed to discover and develop new talent, preparing them for potential national representation in the future.

According to the agreement, the FSC will take charge of strategic planning and venue management, while the FRU will provide technical expertise and support based on its rugby knowledge. This collaboration aims to establish an enjoyable competitive experience for both male and female players.

The tournament will feature 16 teams in each of the men’s and women’s divisions, promoting gender equality as a significant aspect of the event. Participants will have the chance to showcase their skills on the rugby pitch when the first leg commences at Thompson Park in Navua early next month.

The competition will consist of five tournaments, with the overall winner determined after the final event.

Upcoming tournament dates are as follows:
– Thompson Park, Navua: November 1-2
– Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka: November 8-9
– Ganilau Park, Savusavu: November 15-16
– Narauyaba Park, Rakiraki: November 22-23
– HFC Bank Stadium, Suva: November 29-30
