The players have received their promised $20,000 bonuses following changes in the Government’s approach to the payment distribution for the Paris Olympics silver medalists. Initially, the Ministry of Sports planned for the Ministry of Finance to transfer the funds directly to the athletes. However, there were subsequent proposals suggesting that the payments would instead be handled through the Fiji Rugby Union. Head coach Osea Kolinisau confirmed that the players have received their bonuses, stating, “Yes,” when asked about it. Meanwhile, the Fiji men’s team is engaged in rigorous gym training as they prepare for their first match in the 2024-25 HSBC SVNS at the Dubai 7s tournament, scheduled for November 30 to December 1 at Sevens Stadium.
