Fiji Rugby Joins Forces to Boost U20 7s Tournament

The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) and the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) have formalized their collaboration by signing a memorandum of agreement to enhance the FSC U20 7s competition. This initiative aims to boost grassroots rugby in Fiji, with the FRU partnering with the FSC to ensure the tournament’s success.

During the signing ceremony held at the FSC Boardroom last week, both parties committed to organizing a tournament designed to discover and nurture new talent, preparing them for potential future roles in the national team.

The agreement outlines that the FSC will handle strategic planning and venue selection, while the FRU will provide technical expertise and oversight related to rugby.

This partnership is set to deliver a competitive experience for both male and female players, promoting gender equality within the sport. The tournament will feature 16 teams in both divisions and will allow players of all skill levels to showcase their abilities on the field. The first leg of the competition will take place at Thompson Park in Navua early next month.

The series will be concluded after a total of five tournaments, with the following schedule:

– Thompson Park, Navua: November 1-2.
– Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka: November 8-9.
– Ganilau Park, Savusavu: November 15-16.
– Narauyaba Park, Rakiraki: November 22-23.
– HFC Bank Stadium, Suva: November 29-30.
