Fiji’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, stated that the trustees of the Fiji Rugby Union are ready to investigate claims of corruption and delayed payments, but only if players can provide concrete evidence. During a parliamentary session, Saukuru acknowledged the allegations made by players but pointed out that no substantial proof has yet been provided to support these claims. The trustees are open to forwarding credible information to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for a more in-depth investigation. While they are concerned about the issues raised by players, the trustees emphasized the necessity of obtaining proper evidence before proceeding with any actions. Saukuru also affirmed that all players who participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup have received full payments from the Fiji Rugby Union.
