Fiji Roads Authority Unveils Ambitious $388 Million Budget Plans

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has allocated a capital budget of $388 million for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, as announced by the Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, during a recent parliamentary session.

Of the total budget, $275 million, which constitutes 71 percent, is earmarked for maintenance and renewals. Additionally, $70 million will be dedicated to new capital projects, while $42 million will be invested in the Transport Infrastructure Investment Sector program.

Ro Filipe mentioned that in July, the FRA plans to utilize $120 million for its maintenance program. This program will cover routine and cyclic maintenance of road infrastructure, which includes bridges, crossings, jetties, traffic lights, streetlights, traffic signals, and FRA depots.

In December, $15 million is designated for the construction of two jetties—one located in Makogai and the other in Vanuabalavu. Furthermore, the FRA plans to allocate $19 million for the development of new access roads between July and December.
