Fiji has moved up four spots in the latest FIFA World Ranking, now standing as the second highest ranked team in the Oceania region. The Bula Boys, coached by Rob Sherman, are currently ranked 146th, marking their best position since 2011.

This improvement follows Fiji’s recent victory over the Solomon Islands, which they won 1-0 during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers on October 10. As a result, Fiji has surpassed the Solomon Islands in the rankings.

New Zealand has also made strides, climbing to 91st place—its best rank since 2016—after securing wins against Tahiti and Malaysia. New Caledonia and Vanuatu have both moved up five spots to 155th and 157th, respectively, thanks to successes in their qualifying matches.

Conversely, Papua New Guinea has seen a decline, dropping to 171st, its lowest ranking since 2018.

On the global front, the top three teams are closely matched. Argentina remains in the 1st position, while France and Spain are now in 2nd and 3rd, respectively, following a reduction in Argentina’s lead. England, Brazil, and Belgium maintain their ranks at 4th, 5th, and 6th. Portugal (7th, up 1) and Italy (9th, up 1) are the only teams to gain positions in the top ten, which also includes the Netherlands (8th, down 1) and Colombia (10th, down 1). Germany is close behind in 11th place, rising two spots.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking is scheduled to be released on November 28, 2024.
