The Ministry of Education has officially announced the return of interviews for Year 13 students who wish to pursue careers in teaching. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Teacher Training Institutions (TTIs), the Fiji Teacher’s Registration Authority (FTRA), the Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF), and the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS), focuses on improving the quality of teacher recruitment and training throughout Fiji.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro highlighted the significance of a thorough selection process in attracting dedicated and qualified candidates for the teaching profession. This initiative is part of the 2024-2033 Denarau Declaration, which aims to strengthen collaboration between stakeholders and the Ministry of Education. The goal is to ensure that graduates are fully equipped with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to thrive in classrooms across the nation.
Eligible students can apply for scholarships under the Merit-Based Higher Education (Level 7 Local Scheme) and the Minimum Cut-Off Mark Scheme. These scholarships cover various Bachelor of Education programs, including specialized fields such as Early Childhood Education, Counselling, and Industrial Arts. Interested candidates must submit their online applications to TSLS by January 31, 2025. Successful applicants will receive notifications regarding interview dates and locations through email and phone.
