Fiji Resort Takes Green Stand with Massive Mangrove Planting Event

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay celebrated World Mangrove Day with a mangrove planting initiative, in collaboration with the Mamanuca Environment Society. The event gathered about 40 associates and guests who contributed to the planting of 1,000 mangroves.

This effort is part of the resort’s ambitious plan to plant a total of 3,000 mangroves by the end of 2024, emphasizing its commitment to the preservation and enhancement of local ecosystems. General manager Silvano Dressino highlighted the importance of sustainability in their operations.

“World Mangrove Day provides a fantastic opportunity for our associates and guests to make a meaningful environmental impact. We are committed to witnessing the positive effects of our endeavors and to progressing towards our mangrove planting targets,” he stated.

Dressino mentioned that Ms. Mataika would play a significant role in advancing the resort’s environmental projects. “Engaging in sustainability initiatives like mangrove planting allows our guests and staff to experience a ‘Momi Moment’ — a unique connection to the environment and local community beyond their stay.”

In honor of World Mangrove Day, the resort’s beverage team also introduced two special cocktails: the Mangrove Martini and Coastal Breeze, featuring fresh herbs from the resort’s garden. For each cocktail sold, the hotel donated $12 to the Mamanuca Environment Society, supporting ongoing collaborative efforts for ocean conservation in Fiji.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay remains dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing community involvement through these impactful initiatives.
