Fiji Resort Goes Green: A Bold Commitment to Mangrove Preservation

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay recently celebrated World Mangrove Day by hosting a mangrove-planting event in collaboration with the Mamanuca Environment Society.

The event engaged 40 associates and guests who collectively planted 1,000 mangroves. This effort is part of the resort’s ambitious plan to plant 3,000 mangroves by the end of 2024, highlighting its commitment to preserving and enhancing local ecosystems.

General Manager Silvano Dressino emphasized that sustainability is central to the resort’s operations. He stated, “World Mangrove Day offers a great opportunity for our associates and guests to make a significant environmental contribution. We are eager to witness the positive outcomes of our initiatives and to continue pursuing our mangrove planting objectives.”

Dressino noted that Ms. Mataika will play a vital role in promoting the resort’s environmental programs. He added, “Participating in sustainability efforts such as mangrove planting allows our guests and staff to experience a ‘Momi Moment’—a special connection to the environment and local community that goes beyond their stay.”

In celebration of World Mangrove Day, the resort’s beverage team also created two signature cocktails: the Mangrove Martini and Coastal Breeze, which incorporate fresh herbs from the resort’s garden. For every cocktail sold, the hotel contributed $12 to the Mamanuca Environment Society (MES) to support ongoing ocean conservation efforts in Fiji.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay remains dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and encouraging community engagement through these impactful initiatives.
