Fiji Resort Goes Green: 1000 Mangroves Planted on World Mangrove Day!

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay recently celebrated World Mangrove Day by hosting a mangrove-planting event in collaboration with the Mamanuca Environment Society. The event attracted the enthusiastic involvement of 40 associates and guests, who collectively planted 1,000 mangroves.

This initiative is part of the resort’s broader plan to plant 3,000 mangroves by the end of 2024, highlighting its dedication to preserving and enhancing local ecosystems. General Manager Silvano Dressino emphasized that sustainability is central to the resort’s operations.

“World Mangrove Day offers a wonderful chance for our associates and guests to contribute positively to the environment. We look forward to witnessing the benefits of our efforts as we strive to meet our mangrove planting objectives,” he stated.

Dressino noted that Ms. Mataika would play an essential role in advancing the resort’s environmental initiatives. He explained that participating in sustainability projects, such as mangrove planting, allows guests and staff to experience a “Momi Moment,” fostering a unique bond with the environment and the local community beyond their visit.

In addition to the planting activities, the resort’s beverage team created two special cocktails in honor of World Mangrove Day: the Mangrove Martini and Coastal Breeze, both featuring fresh herbs from the resort’s garden. For each cocktail sold, the hotel donated $12 to the Mamanuca Environment Society (MES) to support ongoing conservation efforts in Fiji’s oceans.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay remains devoted to promoting environmental sustainability and engaging the community through these significant initiatives.
