The Water Authority of Fiji has announced that essential connection works will lead to water disruptions for residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor, starting at midnight tonight and lasting until Sunday.
In a statement, WAF’s Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg explained that the planned shutdown is necessary for critical work on the pipeline connecting the Waitolu Reservoir to the Waila Water Treatment Plant, which supplies the Wainibuku Reservoir.
Soderberg noted that the pipelines will be dewatered around midnight today before work commences tomorrow. He highlighted that the site presents challenging terrain, and an ongoing assessment has identified additional risks that need to be managed to ensure the safety of workers.
These risks could cause delays if not addressed promptly. Residents are advised to prepare by storing sufficient water to last through the planned shutdown.
