The Fiji Red Cross Society is actively engaged in providing assistance to communities in the western part of the country that have been impacted by recent flooding. Recognizing the critical need for clean water during such crises, especially given the heightened risk of diseases like typhoid and diarrhea, their efforts are focused on ensuring safe water supply in evacuation centers, particularly in Nadi.
In response to this urgent need, Fiji Red Cross collaborated with Frezco Beverages Pte Ltd, which generously donated 100 cartons of 1.5-liter bottles of Fijian H2O – Fijian Artesian Water to support families in need.
Volunteers from Fiji Red Cross in Tavua are also making significant contributions by assisting families at the Tavua District School evacuation center. They are distributing essential items such as dignity kits and black packs to aid those affected. Furthermore, these dedicated volunteers are conducting awareness sessions to educate the community on prevention measures for Leptospirosis, Dengue Fever, Diarrhea, and Typhoid.
This initiative exemplifies the spirit of community and support during challenging times, highlighting the importance of collaboration and resource-sharing in disaster relief efforts.
The ongoing support and outreach by the Fiji Red Cross serve as a reminder of the strength and resilience of communities in overcoming adversities together.
