The Government of Fiji has expressed its commitment to supporting the Fiji National Rugby League as preparations intensify for the upcoming 2024 Pacific Championships. Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, conveyed this support during a visit from FNRL chairman Akuila Masi and his team.
The purpose of the visit was to provide the Minister with an update on the plans and programs in preparation for the highly anticipated championship, which will take place over four consecutive weekends in October and November across four different countries.
For the first time, Fiji will serve as a host country for matches in the Pacific Championships, expanding the event’s footprint in the region. In addition to Fiji, games will also be held at Santos Stadium in Port Moresby, Brisbane, Christchurch, Auckland, and Sydney.
The Fiji Bati, currently ranked sixth in the world rugby league standings, is expected to announce its team for the championship on Friday, or, at the latest, next Wednesday.
