Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad will head Fiji’s delegation at the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet during its meeting on Tuesday. COP29 will address various important topics, including climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and ocean issues. A dedicated Technical Working Group, managed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will offer essential preparatory assistance to Fiji’s delegation.
